I feel as if I got great feedback and tools to take my presentation skills to a whole new level. Material that was unfamiliar was explained clearly and the feedback from paticipants and Terri was spot on.

Elizabeth Semmes - Denver, Colorado

"I thought I would send you a quick thanks for the Communications training a few weeks ago at Bentek and share a recent story.

I was the best man in my good friend‘s wedding over the weekend and thus had to give a speech. I have done this sort of thing before and am fairly comfortable speaking however, I don‘t like write notes to myself and prefer to speak from the heart. As such, I can tend to ramble a little bit and often struggle to get all my thoughts out.

Thanks to your class I did things a little different. I still did not write anything down but I did organize my thoughts similar to how we practiced in the training. I opened with a little joke (my hook), introduced myself and told them I wanted to talk about three things: what I do remember, what I don‘t remember, and what I will never forget. For the first two points I gave a few very brief examples explaining each. For the third point I tied back in the stories I remembered to the characteristics about my friend that I would never forget. I closed with a toast telling the audience that we should make sure my friend and his wife 'never forget' that we are all there to give back what they have given to us.

Anyway, I got many compliments on the speech and although I would not expect any criticism, I personally felt good about the points I made and that I gave my friend a memory he and his wife would never forget."

"The portion of the program that I liked most was the taping with the playback and feedback. I found it very beneficial to be able to see myself presenting, and also to be able to playback the video from the first day to see the vast improvements. I would not change anything about this program; I thought it was great! I had a wonderful experience and their staff were awesome."

Oral Presentation Skills Seminar
(Half-Day)

Nearly anyone who has attended an education session, conference, sales presentation, company-wide meeting or other oral presentation event can point to examples of exceptional presenters and equally dreadful presenters. Some individuals have a natural talent for presenting that charms audiences and enables them to deliver persuasive oral presentations. Other individuals may be blessed with incredible subject knowledge but lack the oral presentation skills to adequate communicate with their audience members. Two presenters delivering the same message with vastly different oral presentation skills can ultimately have a completely opposite effect on those to whom they are speaking. Understanding how to take steps to improve oral presentation skills can enable a poor presenter to turn into a persuasive presenter. Our half-day training session, Oral Presentation Skills Seminar, teaches participants how to improve communication skills when providing a presentation to business colleagues, clients, association members or neighbors.

This valuable training program enables participants to focus on oral presentation skills in a non-threatening and learner-centered environment. All skills and methodologies taught are designed to improve oral presentation skills while increasing personal communication effectiveness. Training discussions focus on areas such as the ability to determine and understand audience needs, enhance oral communication skills, improve visual image and handle question and answer sessions. Training skills can be used whether one has to present at a departmental meeting or deliver an oral presentation at a trade association event. Participants practice by utilizing content they would ideally present within 90 days of the training class. A senior training instructor will videotape participants three times and will provide coaching to ensure individualized feedback during all group sessions. This personalized approach allows participants to evaluate personal progress and improve oral presentation skills. Other training activities such as exercises, group discussions and question and answer sessions reinforce the learning process.

Oral Presentation Skills Seminar (Half-Day) participants will learn to:

  • Deliver an oral presentation in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner
  • Enhance personal voice projection, articulation, pacing, and fluency
  • Enhance personal body language, eye contact, and gesturing
  • Understand how oral presentation skills affect persuasion
  • Determine customer attitudes and needs during a presentation
  • Identify and handle various types of audience questions
  • Overcome nervousness, anxiety and fear of public speaking
  • Project control and confidence through delivery skills
  • Overcome negative or distracting mannerisms
  • Structure an oral presentation to gain maximum effect
  • Implement persuasive oral communication techniques
  • Build an action plan to enhance personal image via oral presentation skills
