Scientists and Engineers Presentation
Strategies
Often,
there is just no substitute for getting your information
straight from the mouth of the best experts and leading
authorities in the field. However, many experts, especially
in the technical sciences, are usually more comfortable in
front of a microscope or a particle accelerator than they
are in front of a packed boardroom.
Our
one-day "Scientists and Engineers Presentation
Strategies" is designed to equip scientists,
engineers, and other technical professionals to deliver
powerful, memorable presentations involving complex data or
theories to non-specialists who need to understand such
information. The interactive practice-driven format of this
class uses demonstrations, small-group and individual
exercises, and personal coaching to help participants apply
new skills as they learn them. As a part of the class,
participants will create individual presentations and
deliver during a series of ten videotaped exercises before a
small audience. By the end of the class, participants will
be able to design and deliver complex presentations with
professional skill and confidence.
On-Site Presentation Training:
can be tailored to the needs of client
organization and delivered on-site at time and location of
client choice.
Scientists and Engineers will learn to:
- Make your presentation
come alive in such a way that your audience will be
talking about it days or weeks later.
- Present your material in
a relaxed, professional way, using very few notes.
- Determine what the
audience needs and wants, and design ways to address
these concerns.
- Avoid confusing
techno-speak and make your presentation accessible to
key decision makers who may be non-specialists in your
field.
- Use and prepare the
visual aids that are appropriate to the situation.
- Fit the length of your
presentation to the time you have been allotted, while
also being flexible to last minutes changes.
- Tailor your presentation
to fit the venue and the event, because a professional
conference is not the same as a press conference.
- Develop confidence in
using all types of presentation tools.
- Overcome presentation
anxiety.
- Respond with confidence
and clarity to questions and objections from your
audience.
- Employ supplemental
material such as stories, jokes and illustrations to
hold your audience’s attention.

Seminar Feedback:
Location: Los Angeles, California
"Peggy was great, and a
pleasure to work with - of the five people at the seminar,
four were scientists, so this is clearly an important
demographic."
